Balau Wood
Also known as Selangan batu is a yellowish-brown timber with interlocked grain, and a coarse, but even texture. According to species, durable to very durable. Balau is a yellowish-brown, brown, or reddish-brown timber vvith interlocked grain, and a moderately fine and even texture. It is classified in Malaysia as being very durable. Red balau is a purplish-red or dark red-brown timber, with an interlocked grain, and a coarse but even texture. It is classified in Malaysia as being less durable than balau, ie moderately durable. Red selangan batu (Sabah), and alan, or meraka alan (Sarawak and Brunei) are approximately equal in colour and characteristics to red balau. Used mainly for heavy construction.

Nyatoh Wood
Also known as njatuh. The sapwood of nyatoh timbers is lighter-coloured, but only moderately differentiated from the heartwood, which is deep pink-brown or red-brown. Planed surfaces generally without lustre; sometimes with a slight streaky figure on quarter-sawn surfaces. The grain is interlocked, and the texture moderately fine and even, and the wood weighs on average 720 kg/m³ when dried. Nyatoh is a very popular timber for furniture and solid door. The timber is suitable for furniture manufacture, tool handles, beams, posts, joists, rafters, door and window frames and sills, railway sleepers, joinery, cabinet making, vehicle bodies (planking), ship and boat building (keels, keelsons and framework), plywood, flooring (heavy traffic), columns (light duty), panelling, partitioning, staircase (angle block, rough bracket, newel, apron lining and sprandrel framing) and interior finishing like mouldings and skirtings.

Kasai Wood
Also known as Taun, the sapwood is 30mm to 50mm wide, pale reddish in colour and not clearly distinguished from the heartwood which is pale pinkish-brown darkening with age. There appears to be some variation in colour in the timber from different localities in the Philippines, some having a light red heartwood, while much grown in Mindanao is dark reddish-brown. The grain may be straight, but more usually it is interlocked, with a characteristic regular wave, while the texture is fine and smooth. Having medium working qualities, Works and machines fairly well, with only a moderate blunting effect on cutting edges. With attention to techniques a good finish can be obtained in planing and moulding. The wood takes glue and the normal finishing treatments satisfactorily.

Light Red Meranti Wood
Sapwood lighter-coloured and usually distinct from the heartwood which is light-red or pinkish-brown; planed surfaces fairly lustrous, stripe figure on radial surfaces, with subtle, but attractive speckles caused by the rays. Belian Wood
The Belian wood is categorised under heavy hardwood group and of high market value. The wood is very hard, does not rot easily and is naturally resistant because of the unique anatomical features, that it is nick-named as “Borneo ironwood”. The stumps of logged Belian trees are still around decades after they were felled. Due to its density, the Belian tree is one of very few wood species that does not float in water. Belian wood is widely used in heavy construction and large-scale production such as for house structures, pillars, floors, and walls. The Belian wood is also made into shingles for roofing. Dayak longhouse structure is usually built using Belian wood due to its high resistances from water and insert attack.
